About Us

Archer Lane Allotment and Home Garden Society is a voluntary group supporting around 117 allotments on the Archer Lane site as well as home gardeners from across Sheffield. The committee is made up of local volunteers who come together to run the Pavilion Shop on Sunday mornings, support our members, and provide a programme of activities such as our annual show, plant sale and open allotments event. We also host visits from our local infant and junior schools throughout the year.

We aim to generate community cohesion through positive activities that are open to both members and the local community to build up society membership and improve engagement with the allotment site.

We collaborate with the Sheffield City Council Allotment team who own and manage the site. Our Pavilion is located on Plot 94, which we rent from Sheffield City Council in the same way that others rent their allotment plots.

Archer Lane Allotment and Home Garden Society has been in existence - and on Plot 94 - since 1939, hosting annual shows every year throughout the war, and only missing a handful of shows due to flooding and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Committee meets monthly between March and December and our Annual General Meeting is usually held in November. We are always welcoming of new committee members
